So I am using this head gasket on a motor I am building for a local, long story short he went with +1 exhaust valves and didn't get the top of the valve shaved down to fit his buckets. So I had to pull the head off and this is how hard this gasket bites.

No it did not dent the block, that is the the gasket material that was left behind because of how tight the seal is to the block after the head has been torqued down

Has anyone else been able to pick up one of these head gaskets? Would like to pick one of these up.

I'm also trying to get answers on this as well, I'm needing to make up quite a bit of lost material.

This head gasket is only 0.034" thick(stock is 0.030). Depending on how much material was removed, you may need something with a little more meat.

Edge and RPM sell cometic head gaskets that are 0.051" and 0.075" if you need a thicker one

Thank you for the links. I keep hearing from many people that cometics are a no go, but that seems to be my only option at this point. Wish me luck! Hopefully with both the head and block milled to 50 RA, it holds.

Wish I could help ya there, but I don't know enough about surface roughness to say it will be good or not. Hopefully someone else chimes in on that.

50 RA is quite rough, but may hold alright, at least for a while.

Also, shelf cometics are worse than OEM and are completely different than this. Lastly, you do not want to go with a thick ass gasket to make up for the amount machined off. It's all bad news when you do that, mostly because you become more knock prone.

You can pick up a used head for cheap if you're past the service limit from cutting it too much and that would be a better way to go in the long run.

sorry for not replying to earlier comments, I wasn't getting notifications for them. like the guy above me said you shouldn't go that thick on a head gasket but this gasket can be made in almost any thickness but it'll have to be special ordered.

But the main reason I came back to this thread was to provide a little update to how mine is doing, I ended the year last year at 32 psi and making somewhere between 500 and 550 WHP (never took it to a real dyno) and I have 210 psi compression across the bored in my cylinders. I don't want to jinx myself so I wont say what I want to about it. I'm putting a 6266 on this year and swapping the meth for a 6th port so well see how she holds up to more power this year, ill keep coming back if anyone is curious.

@HOCKEYNUBE;

I am getting ready to put my engine together and had contacted cometic a while back about your gaskets. I was told I could order them but it would be a couple days before they would send out since they were custom. I went to see how to order them yesterday and now they say I need you in order to order the head gasket. I am looking to get the head gasket in a 0.040" thickness and standard head stud size and the same 88mm bore size you mentioned. I need this gasket pretty soon. Can you help me get one?

Better yet call them up and tell them that these are fair game for all so you don't have to be brought in to authorize them to make it every time.

Kevin (hockeynube) does not really frequent the site much anymore. i will give a text and let him know, there are a few people interested in getting gaskets. FYI... he works nights and is in the middle of a move, so it may take a couple days to get a reply.

I dont understand why cometic doesnt just offer them. The first email I got back from them I thought I would just be able to order it. Then they said I would have to get it from their customer since it is a custom design by him. Maybe its just who i talked to or something? I thought someone had said they got one with no problem? Anyone have the secret code word you have to use to order this?

Bad news for you guys looking to purchase custom gaskets from @HOCKEYNUBE; he is swamped with work and a move right now, and does not have the time to get in any orders for custom gaskets. Sorry guys, i tried to help you out.
@Realgib3; are you able to get the custom gaskets from cometic? or is Kevin the only true contact?

^^^^This is true. You only really need one if you are looking to push some crazy power and/or using larger head studs.

Jesus Christ you guys I just got the first email saying someone replied to this thread, I am so terribly sorry... I sold my car and don't really have a reason to come on the forums anymore... my name is Kevin kubec find me on Facebook and shoot me a message if you ever need help with these... I've told them before that anyone can buy it from them cuz I didn't care. I'm pretty sure multiple people have called them and got it before.

Again I'm super sorry about not getting back to you guys, this forum is trash with notifying.

Still have no tracking number or gasket, and the pending charge has disappeared...

Looks like I'm going to call Cometic tomorrow.

ok if you finally get it and use it, i'm interested to know how it goes...

I used the grey silicone stuff at first for my cover, it was leaking a lot, i re-did it with right stuff and had a hard time putting it back there in the car. An hardened gasket should make that step a lot easier.....The solid one won't get broken if you touch anything while putting back the cover...

Sorry to revive this old thread but anybody else have a way to get this headgasket? I really don't want to bother kevin kubec but also I don't have Facebook to contact him, or any info I need when I call cometic? Or should I say his name and they would know?

You've tried the part number I hope?

"For anyone else interested the part number is EC1948018AFM."

You can try. I ended up having them match my bore size and got the timing cover gasket.

Yeah the part number is for the timing cover, it's being sold by summit racing but for the head gasket kinda hard,

What did you told them? To get the head gasket
Did you mention Kevin kubec design?
