He will get back to you. The good thing is, when you order a kit, he doesn't fuck around. It took about 2 weeks after an email to hear back from him, but had my kit in hand 3 days after sending him a payment for it.

Anybody heard of an OCC causing leaks? I searched the 'net and found a Vette site that said that was a possibility... not sure the spec of their cans or if that could be a universal thing for any FI car...

It will leak if you don't tighten your clamps enough or leave your drain open. I don't know how else it would cause leaks. The can itself is rock solid.

If you leave the drain valve open you will have a vacuum leak. Be sure the PCV is installed properly.

I meant oil leaks actually, sorry for ambiguous language. I heard from a tech that they can generate enough back-pressure to cause leaks in gaskets. Sounded like BS to me, but like I said, a couple other sources talked about it being an issue. Made me wonder and try to get more info...

Yeah they are the saiko, they are 165 for a complete setup, more then worth the money. Matt includes a check valve so there is no way of it throwin pressure back in either direction. He is a real busy guy but he will get back to you. It took like 3 weeks for him to respond but I had my can in less then a week after sending the money

I talked w/ him earlier, and he said he's gonna check that email soon... he's just been slammed. So hang tight OPers. He's a mad cool dude, and the kit has the hoses all cut to the exact length for where you want to mount it, includes a check valve, and CD w/ instructs.

I've done vacuum and boost testing on the check valves he uses, and they seal perfectly and open at very light vacuum levels. Excellent quality.

I had P0401 (I think, the one for low flow through EGR) around 35k miles. It was off and on for a few hundred miles, then went away. I put my OCC on not long after. I took it off a couple weeks back for warranty work, and haven't put it back on. P0401 was on again for a day. The OCC being off wouldn't be related to it coming back, or the OCC wouldn't keep the EGR clean, would it?

If under warranty, go get a new one for free!

Should not be related, but I have found colder temps can get the EGR crap to gum up tighter, triggering CEL.

Oh that makes sense maybe, winter and cooler weather are happening.

I just passed 60k, so no warranty (and is it 36 or 60 covered item?), I just need to take it off and clean it sometime. I meant to when the CEL was on before, but it went away and I got lazy. It's turned off again, but I'm going to try to make myself do it anyway. Maybe I'll notice a difference in idling smoothness like some others, although I don't feel any negative symptoms right now.

If you have a properly operating PCV valve, then the system shouldn't be allowed to be back pressurized. With my kit, I have the checkvalve, as a double measure against this, since the Mazda OEM PCV valve doesn't like high amounts of boost and doesn't seal well.

The OCC should not effect the EGR in any way. The EGR on these cars tends to get pretty gunked up with carbon deposits, and in most cases of the P0401 code, it can be taken care of by cleaning out the EGR valve and tube. @Raider has a great how to on cleaning the EGR valve IIRC.

For the record, I got Damond's kit also and +1 that it's great quality and the kit came quick and everything is cool. Double plus that there's a check valve. I knew it was part of the kit, but didn't know why. Now I know, and it's another sign his kits are good. Rep to Damond.

Hey Thanks again Matt.
He contacted me Thurs. the 17th and the kit came Sat. morning the 19th, really nice turnaround. Installed it over the weekend and its very nice quality and easy to install. Replaced my PCV valve, took off my intake manifold and cleaned my valves while i was at it. Deleted my EGR a little while ago.. Hope this adds some life to the engine, my valves were REALLY bad---2 of them were'n't sealing and i'm only coming up on 58K.
