@superdave2335; Did you weld before you got this setup? You progressed really fast if not. That MAF housing weld is nice.

Damn dude, it's awesome to see you're already putting in work welding real shit. I still haven't really done anything besides lay down beads and weld flat pieces together. I want to buy some aluminum tubing just to play with, but that shit can be expensive when it's all going to waste. Lol.

That's what I've been thinking about doing. I just always have a hard time dropping $100 on the kit when I could be spending it on parts I'll actually use. Lol. Also, only having access to a welder for a month at a time and as work/school permits sucks. Last time I bought a month membership to techshop, I only ended up going like 5-6 times, because I was so busy. I want to just buy a TIG welder, but I want to just by a solid setup right off the bat and not need to upgrade later down the road. I'd probably be looking at ~$1000 at least for a solid full setup.

That's a pretty good deal. I'm pretty sure the Hobart EZ 200 is roughly $1700 but I don't know if that includes gas. At school we use Lincoln 275's and it's great but they're uber expensive.

Did a small modification to the hot pipe. Brought it down closer to the engine and made curve towards the turbo.

That looks really clean! I like how close the pipe is and how it doesn't stick out at all.

I was actually working on rebuilding my battery/ecu mount today. I'll probably do a bit of welding on it tomorrow, but I only have a little wire fed mig with no gas.

Flux core is messy, but that's what flapper disks are for (the sandpaper 4.5" grinder disks).
36 grit will go through steel like butter.

I actually didnt get it for harbor freight. This one is a grizzley i think, from amazon.

May be the same as harbor freight, but the harbor freight one came separately from the dial indicator, and it was either more expensive, or I was annoyed by having to buy separately...

I just started welding 8 weeks ago. Wife bought me a LE invertec 155. Wish I knew more at the time of my request so I could of asked for AC/DC for also welding aluminum. All I knew was I wanted to weld stainless at the time and did not know you needed AC for aluminum. I do not have a pedal either so its lift start and flick to stop. I have a Miller 221 in my sights though...

Here is my pic contribution. 2x2 16ga stainless and this was 2 weeks ago.

...And here was my first project. Fixturing table. Same as Socks but I did 16mm unthreaded holes on the plate every 2" for a clamp kit I bought. Socks's table is 3/8-13? threaded holes every 4". Then I just welded a base out of some angle and flat bar.

Clamped down is the start to a new homebrewing station.

Clamped down is the start to a new homebrewing station.
Is there a name for that type of clamps?

I was thinking about getting the Eastwood 200 TIG and that would be my first project.

They are from Stronghand Tools. Here is the link to the table/tool kits. They do not sell direct so you have to find a local welding supply to order them for you. The tools work on tables with 16mm holes.

Finished the rebuild of the ecu/battery mount today, works rather well. Fucked it up last weekend and had to cut it apart with a grinder to reposition the ECU brackets.

It ain't pretty, but it is strong and like my pops always says: "A grinder disk and some paint can hide a lot of sin."

I'm fairly happy with my first ever fabrication project, even though it ain't perfect.

Edit: Thought I linked the post, but I guess not. Here it is:

Those beads actually look as good if not better then some of the "cough" professional fabricators I had do welding work for me.

So any final verdict on the eastwood welding set-up?, I have been eye balling the tig with spool gun combo

those beads were with the eastwood tig. I like the setup as it is a great beginner system IMO.
