Default Our install process and how we take care of your car

A lot of customers ask what we do different when installing their motor from other shops.

Every FJBuilt motor install goes through the same process and we take pictures and videos for our customers along the way. Call it overkill, but this is our process, we want to make sure you're getting the most out of your build.

We turn the car over let it run and get up to operating temperature and check for leaks. After the car has ran for 20-30 mins. Up in the air it goes and let's get that oil out, we inspect the oil and make sure everything is kosher. 90% of all engine failures can be prevented when checking the oil after start up.

Assuming everything is good, time for fresh oil. At this point we fire the car back up and idle logs over to the tuner! Once they check out everything, time for the street! We drive and put between 250-300 miles of varying rpms staying out of boost. Then you guessed it back to he shop! Drain the oil! Check again! Make sure everything is great again! Everything checks out, then boom new logs to the tuner! Tuner checks again. If logs are good, it's time to bring a little boost in.

Back to the street for another 400-500 miles with light boost(typically never more than wg pressure). During this process we send multiple logs back and fourth with the tuner checking drivability and making sure the car performs the way it should. We always obey local laws on the street, we have a dyno for bringing the power in. After the miles have been put on you guessed it! Drain the oil again. Check everything out, if it all checks out its Time for power!!!(note on higher hp builds at this point we drop the oil pan and inspect the bearings, can never be to safe. Especially when you're about to put that amount of power through your block)

Now when we are dyno tuning I assure you every precaution is taking when doing pulls. Every aspect of your car is looked at by us and the tuner to ensure you get the best possible product.

Lastly we get a video of your car on our in house dyno and print a few dyno graphs(you know one for the wallet, office, fireplace, fridge, to hand out to everyone you see, etc)

Next step! Fresh oil change, last inspection, and fresh plugs!

Now it's time for pick up! This may seem like a lot for a basic build, let alone a full build. Our view is you're spending your hard earned money, you deserve a top notch product and service!

Feel free to message us about any build questions!

For those of us that bought a built block and installed it ourselves, is this the recommended oil change interval?

Normally we tell a customer to follow the same interval that we use in the shop. Again it's better safe than sorry. But normally when we ship a block out we try to work it out with he customer and their tuner to there specific needs

what additional costs come about when you have the whole car to play with vs a short block? Obviously the labor involved taking out/putting in the build block. Anything else?

Oh we only charge fuel and fluids for the additional break in. It's part of the process
