Those codes come from forums and other data gathering services. Helping out the world, one nearly worthless coupon at a time.

Less forums more data gathering sites (but who cares). Most coupon sites like retailmenot are paid a commission for promoting digital coupons that are provided by retailers, such as rockauto, themselves. These digital coupons are tracked by marketing performance sites to determine consumer purchasing trends for the retailer so the retailers learn how to best market its products or services. Either way you get a discount without having to horde digital coupons and posting them on forums like they're magic money.
