Forzda's right and your MAF could just be off, just use your actual AFRs to re-calibrate your maf in the voltage ranges you are lean. get logs with Maf vt and AFR ...its fairly easy to change the % of your MAF UP to meet your fueling targets. you prob don't have to change your entire MAF curve just the upper ranges and smooth out the transitions.

now if you were logging CDFP and you were dropping down to 1200PSI then you have pump issues otherwise its MAF.

thanks for the insight. the 1.06 map gives me the target AFR, but i would assume i could adjust my MAF table with a 1.07 map to hit my AFR's, run w/o load cap, and get more power...? i'll have to try this sometime soon, not yet b/c i'm getting totally hammered @ work :\

funny story with the CDFP - just replaced mine b/c the old one was dropping below 1000 psi (?!!?!) at WOT. warranty replacement on a PTP pump. new one's holding 1600+ psi at WOT. the funny part is that i was hitting target AFR's w/ the old pump for some reason. i'm guessing i was down on power, though, if the ECU was cutting throttle due to the pressure drop. now, with the new pump, my pressure is fine but my AFR's are lean. can anyone explain that? weird shit.

really? i didn't even do a MAF cal.

both maps are OTS Stage 2 SF w/ TMIC. just 1.06 versus 1.07. i have a Cobb STS, downpipe, and ETS TMIC (and other stuff).

i figured the MAF tables were the same for both. maybe not?

the only other potential consideration is that i didn't give either map a full 100 miles to break in - i rolled on it WOT at about 50 miles for each map, and the results were 11.4 AFR's (target) for the 1.06 and 12.2 for 1.07. i tried putting a few more miles on 1.07 and cycling the key a few times (results did not change) before switching to 1.06 to see if there was a difference.

i could do a MAF cal for 1.07, assuming the tables are identical. i would have to check them to see, obviously. i have been avoiding tuning bc RealGib told me his blown engine story (we talked @ some g2g's) which kinda freaked me out. altho his was from FFS iirc.

hum..you could just compare the two by pasting the 107 map MAF A or B into the 106 MAF B table and switch back and forth looking at the graph to see if there is any difference. If there is then you know Cobb made a change in the MAF and you should start with the one that is closest.

At any rate, if you haven't done a real MAF calibration, that is the place to start with any tuning.

PM me if you have any more ??

What version is the new version?

I ran the update last night around 12am and I'm now on 1.8.6.0 build 854

I don't see any Ignition tables called Max anything...? I see 9 Ignition tables.. am I looking in the wrong spot?

Edit - Just tried the updater again and it says no updates...

Christian, another bug to fix please!

EDIT - I unchecked the "Beta Software" check box and now it's updating.... Not sure if that's the intended behavior...

haha it seems that they have their checkboxes backwards, if you also refer to how you turn off cel codes.

That is the intended behavior. ATR software is different than AP firmware. The firmware is still in Beta. The ATR software automatically updates or you can roll it back...no Beta option there.

No, if the MIL is checked, then the ECU looks for that code, if unchecked, it does not.

No, things are working as expected. ATR software and AP firmware are two different things that are updated separately.

You are welcome to review our release notes here.

Christian FWIW,

as far as your updater programming. If you select to allow for beta updates the program should check for general + beta and not exclude general when you have beta checked.

ya know a cumulative result not an either or.

lol... ok thanks Christian!

I assumed that since ATR for the Mazdaspeeds is still listed as "Beta" that all releases would be too lol...

Understood, but we don't want it to work that way so we can toggle between the two and help users in a bind.

very well...I see this causing confusion though...leave beta checked and users will not recieve general auto updates...Hnda is a perfect example.

perhaps have the software, after checking for a beta update, auto toggle back so it doesn't check for beta until the user selects it again?

Beta AP firmware updates usually contain the general updates + Beta stuff.

Some of the ATR tables are in Beta, but the software has been stable for some time. Although, we may still call it Beta just to absolve us of any unknown mistake that we may make. This is a pretty common practice now. I would make sure that the Beta Software box is unchecked unless you are instructed by one of our technical support team members to check this box. This function is only to be used for advanced technical support needs. We do not use this box for anything that is to be released to the general public. I believe the default installation has this box unchecked and it should be left that way unless instructed by a technical support member otherwise.

We push out Beta firmware stuff more frequently because we may update a general aspect of the firmware that is applicable to all models and we will need immediate feedback. We do not do this with ATR since the platform is stable.

I apologize for the confusion and hopefully this explanation helps. Please let me know if you guys have any questions or concerns.

I've tried half a dozen times in the last several hours and always the same result. Am I missing a step? It's now 19:00.

I've reported this to our engineering team...I've never seen this before. I doubt that we will be able to look into this tonight. Until then, I've hosted the latest MS Tuning Guide and Tuning Guide Worksheets here.

That thread is showing last update on 12/02, and the help file I have I downloaded 12/03 and it includes the new stuff, so I'm assuming that's up to date? I dropped it in the ATR folder so I could access it from ATR - i.e. I don't know how it checks for updates to the help file, but it seems it may be wrong in this case.

I did the same and also received the update. The new version I got matched the 1.10 I had tossed in, but didnt confirm file sizes or anything. It's likely just a simple date check though and the downloaded one had the date of your download..

Edit: It actually appears to simply look for new unseen items from the server.. it ignores the local files completely in my tests.

That makes sense, it would be the easiest for them.

I got it to work - it was my AV (Avira.) Wasted time trying to find the problem, but the newest bad file I found was from 12/04. If it matters to anyone, disabling the web guard didn't help, had to disable all of it, then the update zipped right in.

I Love the boost toggle feature! I finally got my boost to hold, with absolutely no spikes! I do have a question about calculated load though, is it normal for load to slowly taper off? I hit a high point and then it slowy drops even though boost holds steady? afr's and fuel pressure all look great with 0 knock. Finally getting my tune dialed in just wanted to see if this is normal cuz i seen some peoples load holds steady. maybe everyones car is different.

Load will drop as RPMs increase after peak load which is completely expected.

You can roughly think of load as torque and a load curve will closely follow a torque curve.

I cant open the psi tuning, maps that you posted Christian.
I get a message about "invalid Base Map"
I am guessing it is related to the fact that you cannot open the map i sent you either.
I have a 2008 MS3 Cali.

Have you uninstalled your AP from your vehicle yet? The AP should not recognize a CA model vehicle, they models should be consolidated.

Finally getting my tune dialed in just wanted to see if this is normal cuz i seen some peoples load holds steady. maybe everyones car is different.
Look at calculated load as torque...some hardware combinations perform better (breath) than others.

Christian.
I am saying I cant open the map you posted in ATR, I havent even got to the point of trying to put anything on the AP or the car yet.
I wanted to look at the 08 MS3 map you posted, but my newest version ATR wont open it, I get:
"Unable to load map file.
Invalid Base map file. Please verify vehicle and vendor of map file.

I had trouble with that once when trying to open a map I downloaded from cobb's site. I redownloaded it and it worked fine.

Actually I found the problem, I had downloaded the MS6 map by mistake because the order listed in the post was not the same as the order of the attachments.
I just edited Christians OP to have the order they are listed in his post be the same as the order they are attached, that should avoid anyone else having the same confusion.

Gotcha, I apologize about that. I know that I had the titles correct, but I did not look at the order. Thanks for addressing that.

Christian,

I tried that map you had posted and the boost based tables do not seem to match what you have in your first post screen shot. This is what i show, am i missing something?
